Paolo Ranzani was not supposed to be a photographer. Since he was a kid he likes drawing cartoons and little stories. At school he is very good at drawing caricatures of his teachers and classmates, so he realizes that he won't be an accountant like his mother wishes.
He shows an interest in his brother's darkroom set up in the cellar and he begins to feel like creating images. So he starts to work for free with a photographer as an assistant for a couple of years learning movements, speeches and things about professional photography.
Paolo Ranzani loves photography as a way to communicate and not as a mere technical act.
Reportage, fashion, advertisement, portraits, shows...everything that has to be told. A face is often a story and that's what he deals with: faces and people. He tells stories for about 20 years.
