About Paraskevi Psyhogiou
I believe that power of images is based on absence of words. I may choose to include words, letters or other symbols in an image, but they are only visual objects that serve the particular art medium. Moreover, I can’t explain my photographs. Although there is always a starting point that eventually creates cohesive projects regarding the theme and technique, the route in between is mostly characterized by doubt, redefinition and dead ends. Admittedly, I engage with certain key concepts. Sometimes they haunt my mind and sometimes I manage to harmonically embody them in my pictures. Directly or indirectly questions about utopia, dystopia, overconsumption, isolation, decadence and decay arise from my work. I focus on the overall atmosphere of the places I visit which brings into light well hidden aspects of human coexistence.
