Paul-Ruben Mundthal (*1989) studied photography and media art & design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (M.F.A.) and at the Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. He has already been awarded with the Canon ProfiFoto Förderpreis (16/2) and the Leica Upcoming Masters Award 2016. Together with friends, Paul-Ruben founded the magazine project HANT – Magazin für Fotografie and initiated the interactive photo project FOTOBOX.
His body of work deals with the social responsibility of photography and the human being as a projection screen in times of social inequality and global division. His master thesis deals with the borders between public and private spaces and the invisible influence of surveillance on our daily life. What motivates him, are the personal stories that are being shaped through coeval social influences.
