About Pearl Chang

I am a visual artist specializing in documentary, conceptual, and experimental photography.

Although my formal engagement in this field spans only one and a half years, this period has been defined by rapid exploration and a passionate commitment to mastering the craft. My practice revolves around exploring the poetic narrative of light and shadow, with a particular focus on capturing the human condition and presence within immersive and environmental spaces. I am confident that my rapid development is a strong indicator of my potential and future contributions.

I specialize in utilizing extreme black and white tonality, strong geometric composition, and dramatic light-shadow contrasts to transform ordinary moments into surreal visual experiences. Through precise control over long exposures, light painting, or ambient light, my work aims to reveal the underlying tension between the subject and their surrounding space.

I firmly believe that the best images are born at the intersection of reality and imagination. The submitted series, as you observe, is an embodiment of this philosophy. It addresses the timeless themes of human seeking, disorientation, and transcendence within the geometric confines of light.
