My name is Pedro J. Saavedra Macias. 12 years working with agencies and brands of the highest level as an art director in the advertising industry. I am currently a partner coofundador Innn digital agency based in southern Spain, Andalusia, Seville.
I don’t like to be called a “photographer”. I try to attach little importance to this. It is not that taking pictures is not important, but to me, this is like eating or having sex, i.e. something that is there, that I like and that I consider as relaxing. However, there is a big difference: photography is a pleasure to enjoy on my own, of introspection and soul-searching. Photography is solitude. When anyone is interested in getting to know me, I like to say that my photos speak about me better than I can. My pictures almost always describe a better person. Photography makes me better, and that is why I like myself most in my pictures.
I support the globalisation of photography. I believe everyone can take pictures and practise this “discipline”. I don’t like making a statement about what a “good” or a “bad” photo is. Although I of course have my own opinion on the matter, I will always talk about this as a merely trivial aspect.
I see photography as a therapy, as something similar to meditation or reflection, as a wonderful experience, a ritual that sometimes leads to equate the search for the photograph –the moments and experiences- with the goal of the photograph obtained.
After a “long” career, I can say that I like to tell stories and say things with my camera…, although it does not always have to be like that. As I said before, taking pictures is not only about the picture itself, but also about experience and searching.
To sum up, I am someone who takes pictures with a camera and disappears for a while…
(What a relief for the world, right?).
