I am a photographer and Oscar nominated filmmaker. My love of cameras began at 4, when my cameraman father recruited me to ride an alligator in a theatrical short. From then, I yearned to cast spells with a camera. - I quit school at 15, taking photos of the Rolling Stones and selling images to various periodicals. One article was “Go Shoot Yourself” with images of myself reflected in mirrored surfaces. Water, transparency and reflection have continued to be consistent themes in my work. I emigrated to North America at 19 and founded Trilogy Entertainment. I’ve produced and/or directed 16 major films and 200 TV shows like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Backdraft, Blown Away, Moll Flanders, The Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits revivals. - All the while I continued taking pictures following “the rules”. I created tens of thousands of images - but few seemed liberated, or valuable. I abandoned image-making and invested in a life as a filmmaker. - Only on seeing my teenage daughter Victoria’s photographs did I grasp her self-realized, untrained image-making had a poetic unpredictability and innocent emotional power. - Inspired, I started a new journey. Learning to follow intuition, to use the camera like a brush, or a musical instrument, not a gun. - I approach subjects that magnetize me as sensory explorations, allowing intuition to guide me: a Hawaiian stream, waves on the North Shore in Oahu, a Red Maple tree in Napa and Koi in ponds in California. My images are full-frame exposures, un-cropped, using RAW. Nothing is added by Photoshopping. I am the human algorithm that judges my discoveries. I embrace their imperfections as well as their harmonies. I am seaking emotional liberation in impressionistic nature images. Pictures that makes one's eyes dance like visual music. I ask myself what if, and create from intuition. I love relecting surfaces and have mirrored some of my images. The hypnotic answer I call Organic Mandalas.
