Penelope Thomaidi is a photographer from Greece, based in Athens. Member of Studio Hans Lucas since 2018.
Graduate of “Creative Documentary and Photojournalism” one-year masterclass programme coordinated by Magnum Photos and Spéos International School of Photography in Paris. Interested in the relation between people and their territories, her work explores environmental and social issues, often with an emphasis on stories that relate with self-deternation and resistance.
Winner of the 1st prize of Spéos Awards 2018 and finalist of La Bourse du Talent 2018 for her project A Zone to Defend. The same project has been on show in the Helsinki Photo Festival 2019, at the Young Greek Photographers exhibition of the Athens Photo Festival 2019 and was screened in Voies Off Festival 2018 in Arles, France.
With a background in fine arts, she holds a MArts degree in Art Production and Research, Universitat de Barcelona. Member of the editorial team of The Provinces platform.
