Penelope Thomaidi is a graphic designer and photographer based in Athens, Greece. She is co-founder of What If Design creative network since 2013. She has studied art in the Plastic Arts & Art Sciences Departmet of the University of Ioannina (Greece) and the Fine Arts School of Universidad Complutense de Madrid and she has earned a Masters degree in Art Production & Research from the Universitat de Barcelona.
Since 2015 she has been studying photography through seminars and workshops with Antoine D’Agatá, Myrto Papadopoulos and Maro Kouri amongst others.
In the context of PhD field research she has studied the relations between art practices and social action in the era of cultural capitalism. Relative interviews and articles of hers have been published in editions such as Topografias Invisiblesfrom Ediciones UB and GrDesignmagazine. She has also been a member of collectives researching and producing in the field of creative activism (artivism), such as Enmedio and LaConga in Spain and Performing Arts Antifascist Festival in Greece.
Her work has been presented in art exhibitions in Greece, Spain and Brazil.
