Peter Chinitor was born in Brussels and grew up in Scheut, a neighbourhood of Anderlecht (Brussels). An environment that was urban and industrial but still had rural places in 1971. Since then he has moved 14 times, swapping between Brussels and the Brussels periphery. After graduating from Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Interior architecture, he studied Graphic Design & Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Anderlecht.
My photography is about places. All kinds of places. Our environment, the public area, the hidden spots. How they have changed in time. How they can be set up and still be the same location, or not. How they were photographed or painted. How we imagined them in our (collective) memory. How we make them, and they make us.
