Waking up to flying bullets and exploding bombs, her ears tightenening as she darted between destroyed buildings, heading back to the refugee camp, that was once Phuong Hoang’s vision of her future when she was a child.
Phuong Hoang is a Vietnamese photojournalist and art practician based in Berlin, Germany. She was born in Hanoi - a city that is more than a century old and the diverse centre of culture, politics, and art in South East Asia.
Hoang originally studied international relations to become a diplomat, but her life turned towards photography and she has been working as a journalist for more than 10 years. As a result, her work is strongly influenced by Photojournalism and Documentary. These influences are, however, balanced
with her love of Nature Photography and her distinctly subtle, feminine tone.
With an eye for detail, shapes, and forms, Hoang has developed a style with both layers and metaphors, as well as preciseness and minimalism in her work.
