These photographs are selected from my photo series “Hua”. Hua means flower in Chinese, and refers to beautiful and full-blown life in the metaphor. However, beauty is not the only attribute that the two forms have in common. In this project I explore their commonalities and connections in emotional vulnerability and sensitivity, such that emotions such as calm, uncertainty, fear, anxiety, and loneliness, emerge in conceptual and artistic forms.
The whole series consists of two parts. The first part, named “dry season”, starting with a photograph of a withered succulent, exhibits calm and soft aspects of emotions; The second part, named “wet season”, starts with a photograph of a hibiscus in the rain, followed by storms of emotions hidden in the seemingly settled appearances.
