I grew up in Lajeado, a small village in the south of Brazil with a strong German influence, and where many friends worked as models. Being beautiful is a common trait among the women there, regardless of their career paths: architect, veterinarian, dentist, lawyer. In my case, I always wanted to be a photographer, and those friends were my first models. My first project. I left the city a few years ago, but I cannot stay away for long, so taking pictures of these women has become my eternal work in progress.
It has been 5 years since I took the projects first photo. My dreams, and the dreams of these women have changed over time, but one thing remained the same: my perception of their beauty. I discovered it when I first met them, and I see it more now than ever. As Plotinus, the philosopher, once said, there is no more authentic beauty than seeking someone’s inner beautify and finding wisdom and love.
