Nomad of India
Over many years of travelling in my native India I observed that there is large group of people who are the poorest and most marginalised of all. They are the Nomadic Tribes of India. For centuries they had been an integral part of society and respected for providing products, services, seasonal labour as well as bringing entertainment to the villages. Unfortunately the modern world has crept in and replaced that way of life.
In this panel I want to show their present dire living conditions which make them the poorest community in India. Intention is to portrayed everyday lives sympathetically yet realistically. I have used the environment to provide context, so the background is a setting as well as part of the story in each picture.
Photographs were taken over several years to record their meagre lifestyle. It is an ongoing work.
