The series "Hidden Lakes" is a collection of photographs taken from a neighborhood park in Martinez, California. What I witnessed was the urbanization of some of the last remaining local native Oak Grove that had been developed into Hidden Lakes park over the years I lived in Contra Costa County. People would go to the park to escape the city. Ironically the idea of developing parks as "nature getaways" involves the removal of the natural order of the landscape. The contemporary definition of nature however, does not rely entirely on the notion of the synthetic versus the natural. Nature is a continuous flow of ideal disposition. In 2018, the series "Hidden Lakes" was published as a single copy hand bound Giclee artist book as part of SFAI annual BFA exhibition.
