Ten years ago Zed Nelson completed a three year investigation into American Gun Culture. The result was his seminal project Gun Nation - a disturbing reflection on America's deadly love affair with the gun. The project is widely considered the definitive body of work on the subject, overturning every cliché and myth that underpins the culture of gun ownership that is still as prevalent, and deadly, in the United States today.
Today the situation remains the same, if not worse. In the United States 30,000 people die every year by gunfire and there are an estimated 200 million guns in circulation today.
Gun Nation has been awarded five major international photography prizes, including the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award, (USA); First Prize in World Press Photo Competition and the Visa d’Or (France).
