Jerusalem and The West Bank
Project info

After traveling to Istanbul, I made my way to Jerusalem where I spent the last part of July 2013. It was an amazing experience being in one of the oldest cities in the world and in a place full of history and tension. Claimed by both the Israelis and the Palestinians as their capital, it is also a holy place for the three major religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I tried to make images that reflected all of these elements but it was bit overwhelming. I also took day trips into the West Bank going to Bethlehem, Jericho, and the Dead Sea, and also spent time in Aida Palestinian Refugee Camp. We also visited Abed, the Palestinian farmer who refuses to leave his land even though he is surrounded by Israeli settlements on all sides.
