Cross/Walk
Project info

These images are from an ongoing project of New York street photography. After photographing New York for many years with various cameras, in 2011, I started making pictures with my iPhone using the Hipstamatic App in a square format. It was easy to carry and less conspicuous, and allowed for more experimentation. I could take my time composing pictures or shoot quickly while moving through the streets creating images with a more improvised quality.

I believe in an art based on everyday experience and these pictures are a direct response to the images I encounter, whether they be poetic, dramatic, or political. I want the photographs to reflect an environment that is kinetic and constantly in flux, and a city that is diverse, beautiful, and always fascinating.
