Wall Street
Project info

When I visited Wall Street for the first time, I wanted to photograph the complexity of my feelings about this dark and powerful place and its people.

I was brought up in a small town, knowing all my neighbours and believing that bankers are a conservative pillar of our society. This is not an old story, but an ongoing one that still hustles in the shadows of our consciousness. The result is a series of pictures that attempt to translate my antagonism about this place and its people whom I cannot understand, rushing to and from their 'church', not getting close to each other, or anyone, into a few images.

Even though the light has shifted now, and the people have swiftly moved out of the frame, I am left wondering if Wall Street could ever step out of the shadows, so that we can understand and appreciate this complexity in a new light.
