On the job in Abomey: portraits of working people in Benin
Darcy Drew Greene is an associate professor in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. She spent a month in Benin in 2016 creating environmental portraits of people engaged in both traditional and contemporary work.
Greene had been an American peace corps volunteer in Benin from 1969 – 1971. She returned there over 40 years later to complete a project in which she compared images made in the 1940s and 1950s by Pierre Verger to those she made in 2012.
