This is the story of Catarina, who was able to send her generations of her family to school through her work as a weaver.
In 2015, I was selected by Photographers Without Borders to travel to Guatemala to document the work of a local organization, Maya Traditions. Maya Traditions works with local female artisans through cooperatives. They provide these women access to markets so they can sell their work at a fair wage. The organization also provides social services to its participants such as scholarships for school, literacy training, and access to medical care.
