Project info

For this series, two features, commonly used to distinguish one human from another, are combined: face and voice.

Inspired by the algorithms used in facial recognition systems, this project proposes a new way of visual identification by the means of data-driven manipulation.

In order to achieve this new biometrical identity, pixels from a portrait are morphed using as a baseline pattern a plot of time, frequency and intensity of a waveform obtained by recording each person’s voice.

As a result, the original visual identities from the subjects are destroyed at a level that they are unidentifiable by traditional means. This gives birth to a new biometrical identity and the possibility to create a process for reimagining a visual representation that uses sound as a base system.
