Transgender Youth
Project info

Farida Lemeatrag is a belgian photographer who turned her lens, almost three years ago, towards transgender youngsters. This series of photographs, titled “Transgender Jongeren” tells the stories of 40 children who have been subject to this experience that is accompanied with fear, lack of self-confidence, confusion and loneliness. The work of the photographer was only possible after she established a strong individual relationship with each of her subjects based on a mutual trust. These strikingly moving portraits aim to change the society’s perception on transgenders and to defeat the stigma associated to the word itself.
