PORTRAITS FROM MY VILLAGE:
I live and work in an old warehouse studio in the inner city area of Melbourne, drawing my subjects – as I do – from the vibrant life around my old studio. So the village I am referring to is very much my own ‘urban village’. In looking to portray another, younger generation around me, I am fascinated by the ever-increasing cultural and ethnic diversity of the young people now living and working in this village. At A time when powerful, isolationist forces worldwide are seeking to stem the tide of diversity, I cherish the fact that such wonderful diversity exists in my own village! It is, indeed, cause for celebration, not isolation!
