Mothers & Daughters etc
My independent projects are research led and investigate contemporary notions of identity and belonging. I use the lens to focus my enquiry and create a space for dialogue and a point at which the photographer, viewer and subject can interact. I have submitted single portraits from three long running projects:
- Tā Moko-Modern Māori Warriors,
- The Dying Art of Smoking,
- My Mother Said, which the Mothers & Daughters series is part of. This last series of work (Mothers & Daughters) is an internal exploration of mother/daughter relationships following the recent death of my mother.
