The Hair of the Artist
Nowadays people take selfies in the museums. I also did the same; not as a simple museum visitor, but as an artist. 'The Hair of the Artist' is an ongoing photographic series since 2012. For this work, I visited more than 100 European art institutions so far, including Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, mumok, ZKM and Foam. Then I placed my hair in the spaces-on the wall, on the floor and even on the exhibited artworks. A hair as a small, fine, fragile and temporarily intervening artwork of an unknown artist, documented photographically and thus stating “The artist was here.” I often had to hide my camera from the museum staff, as such action was usually not permitted, which sometimes led to hasty and blurred pictures.
