"Out of sight, out of time"
Project info

These photographs are fragments of my ongoing long term project documenting life in a small rural village of slightly more than 1,000 people in the Fukui prefecture, center Japan.
While the village is in the middle of various challenging social, economic and environmental changes, there are many things, habits, values and aspects of the everyday life that remain immutable: it almost feels like as by doing so the local community subconsciously enforces its own law of preservation against the changes imposed upon itself.
This series is a personal research into the identity of this community: I am just observing the normality, trying to be part of its flow, waiting for the unusual to leak between the cracks of ordinary.
