I find myself drawn to photographing people so that their faces are obscured by some kind of cover. Perhaps this reflects my own desire not to be seen, to remain covert while photographing amidst the ebb and flow of the street - hidden in plain sight. Yet, the partially covered faces also represent my subjective experience of relocating to Sydney, and with it a sense of isolation and feeling like I was living life from behind some kind of facade. The fear was - for me - that the mask would slip, my cover would be blown, and something of my real self exposed to the world. I had wondered if these people shared such fears?
