The Kitale Glue boys
These photographs are from a documentary film project to help launch an NGO aiming to help street kids in Kitale, a town on the Uganda/Kenya border. The kids can find themselves on the street from a very early age with nothing to support them except each other. Glue sniffing is a huge problem among homeless kids. The aim of the project is to show how these are children like any other, to see their humanity, their humour, their potential and remove the element of 'other' about them. It is impossible to help every child, but to understand and have some connection with a few, allows them to help themselves and others.
