Surfing is often marketed by sun soaked, tanned, toned bodies in brightly coloured images. Another side often depicted is the extreme, shocking and awe inspiring world of the pro circuit and big wave surfing that is out of consideration but an elite few.
Somewhere else entirely lies the everyday surfing enjoyed by those that pursue it not for fame, fortune or recognition but the pure sense of self-satisfaction.
We everyday surfers put ourselves into situations and experience things that most would not understand. The pummelling's, the patience, the persistence for some few fleeting rewards. This black and white series aims to convey those experiences without the idyllic sun soaked beach tones and to show the raw power of the ocean and the effort we devote to the sport we love.
