The Other Side
Unpopulated places beckon me, be they rural or urban. What is there that their appearance does not reveal? Why is this here? What is just around a corner, inside a doorway, behind a window? What lies behind the immediate appearance, on the other side?
All such places have an ineffable story. It may be of desire, loss or yearning. Or perhaps one that evokes dreams of childhood nights or anxiety in front of a presence we cannot fathom. It may even be one of unanticipated rapture, sudden bliss.
In this project I explore scenes that evoke such perplexing emotions.
