Venice is about anything — especially about time, shape and eye of the beholder.
“Winter is an abstract season: it is low on colors, even in Italy, and big on the imperatives of cold and brief daylight. These things train your eye on
the outside (…) still subordinates them to your
instincts; beauty at low temperatures [is] beauty “
Inspired by Russian poet Iosif Brodskij who spent long time in the city in winter only, these photographs being shot in December since 2016 aim to show how winter light changes our perception and makes the experience quite intimate thus producing a very personal and emotional geography.
