As They Come
As They Come represents a turning point in my photographic mindset. Shot completely on an iPhone it was meant to act as a mental exercise in concept formation, as well as technique work. It has been said that iPhones show a true photographer. Without the technical help of shallow depth of field, and razor sharpness, one is forced to perfect their compositional strategies and shoot concepts to create intriguing imagery. The concept for As They Come was simple, capture photos of everyone that passes you. So for three days I sat with my iPhone capturing the image of everyone that walked infront of me. Some subjects repeated themselves, but most I would never see again. Ultimately, As They Come allowed me to free myself from the constant pursuit of new gear, and has proven to me that the photographic eye is more important than any camera.
