Old Men and the Sea
On a trip to Kochi in the southern state of Kerala in India, I was able to spend multiple days on the beach to shoot the fishermen at various times of the day.
They never said much, but over the days they seemed to open up to me over the days.
After a few days of editing and selecting my images and story, a friend thought I should supplement the story with quotes from Ernest Hemingway's, The Old Man and the Sea. It seemed quite fitting. Over the days, although these fishermen worked in close proximity to each other, they never said more than a few words to the others. Through my images, I tried to capture this meditative process that has become an instinctual process that cycles through the days.
