“Daddy” (2008-2012) is a narrative series that dwells in between fantasy and documentary. Even though, all the scenes are staged, they reveal a real relationship of a young father and his little daughter. When I first met Andrew (the father), he captured my interest tremendously. His male identity is strangely blended with a female one. He is a caring mother who desperately loves “her” child, but he also wants to be a strong father who can teach his child to survive and stand up to the ruthless, yet full of beauty, world. At the same time, he is pursued by fear of being a man who has to bring up a little girl. In this photographic series I wanted to portray the multiple shades of the psychological conflict that this young father, who decided to have a child when he was only 20 years old, is going through.
