Last Christmas
Project info

After two years of exile, the Christmas season of 2016 was a time when hope returned for Christians in Iraq. Since 2014, tens of thousands of Christians had to flee and live as refugees in Iraq, Kurdistan and the rest of the world when ISIS took over traditionally Christian towns in northern Iraq. A combined offensive of the Iraqi, Kurdish and coalition forces led by the United States against ISIS led to the recapture of Christian towns by December of 2016. Despite huge damage, churches were again filled with worshippers – not just in untouched cities like Erbil but also in war zones near Mosul.
