"I'm a different man now," he said
In 2014, my father began an increasingly rapid descent from earlier stages of dementia into advanced Alzheimer's. Around this time, I reestablished a connection with him, after having been estranged for most of my life. It was an emotionally confusing time to have him at last repenting for his alienation from my life, as he gradually slipped away from knowing who I am at all. I started to take photographs as a way of working through these emotions.
