Blue Pencils conveys my youthful feelings about the realization of my father’s work as a mortician and the tragic death of a childhood classmate. Thus, this autobiographical series concerns my early consciousness of mortality, albeit perceived through the lens of an adult.
By definition, “mortality” is the state of being susceptible to death. Any sensible adult understands that death is destined at the instant of one’s first breath; however, as a young child, I couldn’t possibly comprehend such a notion.
With endless passion for verve and spirit, I create photographs that intertwine delicate and intangible elements of my memory by means of visually unfolding an exchange of the unknown to understanding death.
