These images are assembled from my photographs of Lake Michigan, Torch Lake , (also in Michigan), Lake Chautauqua in upstate New York, and the Delaware beach. I collected the images over the course of a few years before I decided to assemble them and create single images out of many. The resulting land, sky and waterscapes are of places both real and imagined. For this work, I was influenced by the work of photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto, Andreas Gursky, Renate Aller, and my good friend and mentor, Barbara Shamblin. I was also influenced by Color Field painting and, especially, by my love of Mark Rothko’s paintings.
