The People of New Orleans
My nomad of a counter culture mother wisely took us from the hills of South Carolina to New Orleans when I was in my teens. I later left, marrying a Yankee and moving North. I go back to New Orleans as often as I can, especially to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, where I eat crawfish and gumbo and listen to the music of the region and beyond. More than anything, I take pictures of people, who are rife with emotion, passion, beauty, power and endurance. Photographing the people of New Orleans is one of the best things I do with my life.
