"The Forgotten Faces of Cuba"
Project info

I photograph the people of Cuba for Americans who due to politics cannot easily meet their wonderful neighbors.

Cuba is a forgotten country! Choked by a dysfunctional revolution and a 56 year-long embargo, the Cuban people have evolved into resilient, proud, intelligent and wonderful neighbors few Americans will ever know…

It is a colorful country, rich in history, culture, music and a “love for life.” The Cuban people have an insatiable curiosity about the world including sports and music. In spite of having so little, they will welcome you into their homes and prepare you a meal with whatever little food they have. They want to be with you, talk to you and soak up everything you have to offer. While many do not speak English, they gesture and communicate through their souls and spirit.

These photographs were taken on trips in 2017 and 2018.
