Project info

These five images are from a range of projects. Crest is a stand alone image. 'Summer' belongs to a project titled 'Australis Imagined,' seeking to explore the landscape of Australia through a series of conceptual portraits. This was an emerging concept and is currently a stand alone.

The remaining three images, 'The Author', 'The Watcher' and 'Muse' are from a developing project entitled 'Athenaeum'. This series explores literary themes in a series of conceptual portraits. There are another dozen planned at this stage. 'The Author' reflects the frustrations of process in its depiction of Writer's Block. 'The Watcher' draws from the quote "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." The final image 'Muse' draws from the Greek poet Homer and the opening line of his poem Odyssey; "Sing in me O Muse, and through me tell the story".

All of these images are intended for print on fine art papers rather than digital circulation. Muse, on paper, is very high key and Crest is typically very dark so that the viewer gets to explore the print at length.
