Wall Off Trump
Project info

In July 2016 I traveled to the Republican National Convention to capture the scene in the streets. Pro- and anti-Trump demonstrators swarmed through downtown Cleveland. Some chanted support for Trump’s border wall, others shouted to wall off Trump. Throngs of police officers circulated on foot, bicycle, and horseback. When things heated up, they interlocked their bikes and lined up their horses, creating their own walls to contain the mayhem and keep the peace.

Now in year two of the Trump presidency, the 2016 street scenes turn out to be a preview of our nation’s ongoing polarization.

These photographs catch people in the act of living their lives and voicing their opinions. Ultimately it’s up to viewer to notice how the photos make them feel.
