Portraits of Coney Island
Coney Island is the end of the line for several subway trains and it’s where people end up when they run out of city. It’s a place of pleasure, openness, and release from the city’s confines. It’s a diverse mix of people from different cultures and socio-economics all trying to get a little sun and sand. A microcosm of the city at large but with swim trunks, flip-flops, and hot dogs. With this portrait series I try to capture the spirit of a few individuals from among the crowd.
