Syria Beyond the Front
As the conflict in Syria is about to enter its fifth year, it seems ever more complex.
This series of photographs was made between mid-2012 and late-2013, focusing on different aspects of the conflict, on the front lines and beyond.
The battle for Aleppo, the conflict among different rebel groups in Raqqa city - the de-facto capital of the so-called Islamic State, the aftermath of indiscriminate air strikes, both sides of a war within a war where opposition groups battled Kurdish militants, the civilian life that pushes through amidst it all - each of these aspects is portrayed here.
Sadly to all of those involved - and to myself, as a witness - this broader perspective still fails to bring answers, and instead produces more questions on this devastating humanitarian crisis.
