About Quetzal Maucci
Born in San Francisco, Quetzal Maucci is an Argentinian and Peruvian American photographer based in London and part of Women Photograph. This year she graduated with a Master’s in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from London College of Communication with Distinction. Recently, she was shortlisted for the Images Vevey Book Award and the Belfast Photo Festival. She also won the Metro Imaging & Made in Arts London mentorship program and was shortlisted for the Then and Now in America grant by British Journal of Photography. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors degree in Photography and Imaging from New York University. She explores issues about immigration, family dynamics, and identity.
Her personal project, We Are More Than Numbers: Portraits of Children of Immigrants, was published in The New York Times, which explored and interviewed the community of children of immigrants in the United States. This project is permanently exhibited in the New Americans Museum in San Diego, California. In 2020, two of her Children of Immigrants portraits won the chance to be exhibited with British Journal of Photography and Galerie Huit in Arles, France. In 2021, one of the portraits was shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography- Portrait of Humanity Award and was also published in the Portrait of Humanity Vol. 3 book published by Hoxton Mini Press
Quetzal has worked with charities as a picture editor/photographer, assisted various photographers, and managed photography studios.
