I've been working as a professional photographer in Kansas City and world wide since 2004 and have had a passion for it nearly all my life. Formally educated and trained in Psychology and Pre-Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, I use my knowledge to understand people through the camera. I've attended numerous training and workshops to develop my technical skills.
Working in a documentary style, I split my time between commercial work and work for nonprofits. The core of my work stands to promote dialogue, awareness and understanding between differing communities of people.
In all my work, I aim to celebrate the human spirit.
Every time I am hired to photograph a person or event, it is always a great honor and pleasure for me to participate as a viewer in people's lives. I see no difference between photographing my neighbor and photographing an ambassador. My feeling is and experience has been that everyone has a unique and fascinating story within themselves. I capture this feeling with deep respect and honesty to endure the ever changing world around us.
My work has been published in The Guardian UK, Present Magazine, KC Magazine, and exhibited in The United States Embassy in Portugal, The United Nations in NYC as well as many other places in Kansas City and around the world.
