I have lived happily in Buffalo, New York for most of my life, the last 15 years as an elementary teacher, but I never truly saw this place before I started photographing. My developing street photography project, which started at the beginning of the pandemic we are all living through, nestles me into this place and opens my eyes to the people around me in a way that continues to astonish me. Street photography gifts us shining, surprising moments, and invites us to widen our circles of empathy. Let everyone in. I live in Buffalo, New York, and I see now, I am beginning to understand.
