Born in Los Angeles, Rafael is an architect and designer who currently lives in London. In 1998 he moved from his native California to New York to study at Cornell University and then moved to London to obtain his MArch from the Architectural Association. An attraction toward fluid forms drew him to Zaha Hadid Architects where he was part of the studio’s evolution between 2005 and 2013. In 2015 he moved to Kuwait to take on a challenge as the Lead Designer of PACE. It was here that he shifted his focus from architecture to street photography when he became inspired by a culture that was frozen in time. In his recent body of work he walks 450 km throughout Kuwait searching for its inner beauty and the undocumented pieces that identifies a city.
