Capturing the beauty and diversity in the world is the foundation of my work. Although I love to travel to unique places, as I developed as an artist, I found that I could also find subjects right around the corner. My artistic process starts with a photograph, or group of photographs, but this is just the raw material of my work. I add many layers of textures, content, lighting and other adjustments so that the final piece contains the depth and emotion that I felt when visiting a particular area of the world. Every piece of artwork is a journey, evolving, taking on a life of its own. My travels provide a rich treasure of material and these images start me on a journey of creation that can take hours, days or months before reaching the final destination. That destination, the final work of art, is based in the reality of the photograph, but I’ve added pieces of myself and my experiences to create something unique and if successful, something that can stir emotion in others.
