Rene Maurin is a Slovene author that could be described as swaying between several mediums. After graduation in theatre directing he filmed a series of documentary films for the Slovenian National Television and won the attention of the critics with films such as »I saw Elvis!« (1999) and »Life, as From Inside« (2000).
Recently he shifted his foci on fiction film and photography and produced his first short fiction film »Bright Black« which won several awards. His photographic work serves as an impulsive expression, balancing the elaborate, lengthy processes behind film and contrasting narrative treatment. Chiefly he feels drawn to the photographic contraction of time and the capacity of uncompromising intimate testimonies or visual expressions of ideas and thoughts.
