Robert S Johnson was born and raised on the grounds of the Boston State Hospital which was founded in 1839 under the name “Boston Lunatic Hospital”.
After five careers, ranging from Artistic Director of THECO, a theater company, to Regional Vice President of a for-profit, after-school education company, he turned to photography fulltime in 2008.
He teaches at the Summer Academy|School of the New York Times, Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill and tutors many private clients. Clients include: Gender Conference NYC; PFLAGNYC; The New School; The International Center of Photography; New Circle Theater Company; Word Hermit Press; Chef’s Collaborative; and Audition Savvy; His work was most recently featured in the Provincetown Independent and ICP (#ICP Concerned)
He lives in New York City and Wellfleet MA with his wife, Katherine, occasionally his son, Asher and rescue cat, Opawl.
